Born and raised in Romania as part of a German speaking minority, I came to Germany at the age of twelve. I know firsthand what it feels like to be a stranger in a new country - even if I already spoke the language perfectly. My love for the English language comes from that time, when as a 12 year old teenager, I desperately wanted to know what they sang about in those 80ies pop songs. My "school English"  became more fluent through listening to American Army radion stations (yes, that was before the internet) and reading "Smash Hits" (a British teenage magazine). Later on I made English speaking expat friends and had longer stays in English speaking countries. 

My path to becoming a psychotherapist was not linear. Before studying psychology and training as a therapist, I spent several years working in organizational and marketing roles for internationally known companies -with  English as the main business language. 

At a certain point, my priorities changed and I became courageous enough to go for the career path that has long been a dream in the back of my head. With 31 y.o. I went back to uni and started studying psychology at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, then continued my training as a cognitive beahavioral psychotherapist in Cologne. In 2012 I opened my own practice in Cologne. My therapeutic work is built on scientifically backed and individually tailored approaches, transparency — and also humour :-).

Additional training in trauma therapy (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and clinical hypnosis rounds up my clinical toolkit. Professional memberships include the Chamber of Psychotherapists of North Rhine-Westphalia, the DPtV, EMDRIA Germany, and the Milton Erickson Association, Germany. In addition to my practice work, I represent pychotherapists on the district board of the KV Nordrhein in Cologne and organize a quarterly meetup for Cologne-based psychotherapists.
